Real Wood Floor Visualiser

Premium wood flooring, sourced directly from the world’s leading manufacturers

Working directly with the industry’s top producers means we cut out the middleman entirely. The result? Outstanding quality flooring at genuinely competitive prices, backed by the kind of personal, local service you simply won’t find from the national chains.

We work with established manufacturers whose ranges combine exceptional quality, precision construction and the natural character of real timber. If sustainability is important to your project, our team can also help you identify sustainably sourced options available within our UK flooring ranges. FSC and PEFC certification provide recognised ways of identifying timber sourced from responsibly managed forests and supply chains. Choosing certified, responsibly sourced wood can also help reduce the environmental impact associated with flooring production.

Why Choose Real Wood Flooring?

Real wood flooring brings natural beauty, warmth and character that manufactured alternatives cannot fully replicate. Every board has its own unique grain patterns, rich textures and colour variation, giving a finished real wood floor a stunning appearance that can work just as well in traditional interiors as contemporary homes.

Our extensive collection includes solid wood flooring, engineered wood flooring, solid oak flooring and engineered oak flooring in a wide choice of styles and finishes. Real wood will generally have a higher initial cost than alternatives such as laminate flooring, but its longevity, refinishing potential and timeless beauty can offer lasting value when the right floor is chosen for the space.

Choosing the right wood floor for your home?

Choosing the right wood floor for your home comes down to where it will be laid and how it will be used. Solid wood is the purist’s choice – a floor you can live on, sand back, and hand down to the next generation. Engineered wood offers the same authentic surface while providing construction that handles heat, moisture, and movement far more forgivingly than solid boards alone.

Guidance You Can Rely On

Our team will walk you through every consideration – from subfloor condition and room usage to finish preferences and budget, so you leave with complete confidence in your choice.

Something for Every Home

From sleek, contemporary smoked oak to warm, rustic hand-scraped boards, our collection spans the full spectrum of real wood flooring styles and price points.

Solid Wood vs Engineered Wood – What’s the Difference?

Both options offer the genuine beauty of real wood, but they behave quite differently in use. Understanding those differences is the key to choosing a floor you’ll still love a decade from now.

Solid Wood
Solid Wood Flooring

Cut from a single piece of timber from top to bottom, solid wood is as close to nature as flooring gets. It’s been the floor of choice in the finest homes for hundreds of years – and with good reason.

  • A Floor for Life: Solid wood can be sanded and refinished repeatedly, meaning a well-laid floor can genuinely outlast the building it’s in.
  • Incomparable Character: No two planks are the same. The grain, colour variation, and natural markings in solid wood create a floor that is entirely one of a kind.
  • Grows More Beautiful With Age: Rather than wearing out, solid wood develops a rich patina over time that only adds to its depth and warmth.
  • Natural Durability: Species such as solid oak are valued for combining hard-wearing performance with the warmth and character expected from genuine timber flooring.
Engineered Wood
Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered boards combine a genuine hardwood top layer with a precision-built core, giving you real wood beauty with significantly greater dimensional stability.

  • Perfect for Underfloor Heating: The layered construction resists the expansion and contraction that solid wood can experience when temperatures change, making it the go-to choice for heated floors.
  • Greater Flexibility of Use: Unlike solid wood, engineered boards can be installed below ground level and in rooms where moisture levels may fluctuate, such as kitchens.
  • Still Completely Real: The surface you see, touch, and walk on is genuine hardwood, the only difference is what lies beneath it.

Why Bespoke Floors is the Right Choice for Real Wood

A wood floor is one of the most significant investments you’ll make in your home. Getting it right means finding the right species, the right finish, and the right fitter. Here’s why so many Beckenham homeowners trust us with theirs:

A Range Worth Exploring

We curate our stock with care. From the enduring appeal of solid oak to the refined versatility of wide-plank engineered boards, every product we carry has been chosen because it meets our exacting standards.

Rooted in the Community

We’re not a call centre or a warehouse showroom on a retail park. We’re a local business, staffed by people who genuinely care about getting the right result for your home.

Browse Without the Hard Sell

Our showrooms are there to inspire you. Take your time, handle the samples, ask as many questions as you like – our team is on hand with honest, knowledgeable advice whenever you need it.

Fitted to Perfection

Even the finest wood floor can be let down by a poor installation. Our experienced in-house fitters take real pride in their work – tight joints, clean edges, and a finish that speaks for itself.

Proper Preparation Before The First Board Is Laid

A beautifully crafted wood floor still relies on what sits beneath it. Our fitting team assesses the existing subfloor and can carry out the preparation and levelling required before your new flooring is installed. With more than 50 years of flooring installation experience across the South East, we can advise on the right floor construction and fitting approach for the room, helping protect its durability, appearance and lasting value.

Preparation can also influence how a timber floor sounds underfoot. In upstairs rooms or multi-storey properties, we can advise on the installation approach and appropriate flooring products where reducing impact noise is an important consideration.

Come and see what we mean. Visit our Beckenham showroom and experience the Bespoke Floors difference for yourself.

What Wood Flooring Style And Finish Should You Choose?

Oak flooring remains one of the most popular choices because its natural grain, versatility, and understated elegance work well in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Oak, walnut and ash are all popular hardwood flooring species, each offering a different combination of colour, grain and character. Solid oak flooring is particularly valued for its durability and natural warmth, while darker timbers such as American Black Walnut create a richer appearance and are generally better suited to low- to medium-traffic areas.

Where greater resistance to heavy everyday use is a priority, naturally tougher species such as Hard Maple and Hickory can be worth considering. Wood hardness can be compared using the Janka Hardness Scale, which measures a species’ resistance to denting. It is a useful guide when comparing species, although finish, maintenance and how a room is used also affect the long-term appearance of the floor.

The format and finish can make just as much difference as the timber itself. Wide plank flooring can enhance the sense of space in a room, while herringbone introduces stronger pattern and character. Parquet flooring can also combine classic charm with modern sophistication, making it suitable for both period properties and contemporary interiors.

Oiled finishes tend to retain more of the wood’s natural texture, while lacquered and factory-applied finishes provide a protective surface and are generally easy to wipe clean. Board construction and thickness also vary between ranges, so our team can help you find the perfect choice for your room, subfloor and preferred installation method.

Where Can You Use Our Bespoke Wood Flooring?

Real wood flooring works particularly well in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, where its warmth and stunning appearance can become an important part of the overall interior. In high-traffic areas, the durability of the floor will depend on choosing a suitable species, construction, and surface finish, along with the right maintenance routine.

Hardwood is naturally hard-wearing, but it is not immune to scratches and dents. Busy households may therefore want to consider the timber’s hardness, the chosen finish, and simple measures such as entrance mats and furniture protection.

Engineered wood is particularly versatile and can offer greater flexibility in kitchens and other areas of the home where temperature or moisture levels fluctuate. Many engineered ranges are also designed for use with underfloor heating. Bathrooms require more careful consideration, as not every real wood floor is suitable for regular moisture exposure, so the individual product specification should always be checked before installation.

Hardwood also has a smooth surface that does not trap dust in the same way carpet fibres can, making routine cleaning straightforward. In multi-storey homes, however, footsteps on a hard floor can be more noticeable than on carpet, so the right installation method, subfloor preparation and suitable acoustic products should be considered where noise transfer is important.

The Enduring Appeal of Real Wood

No other flooring material comes close to the warmth, depth, and individuality of real wood. Every board carries the story of its growth, unique grain patterns, natural colour variation, and a texture underfoot that simply cannot be manufactured. It’s a material that improves with age and rewards careful choice.

Part of real wood’s appeal is that its character cannot be perfectly replicated. The grain, knots, colour variation and rich textures differ from board to board, creating a natural beauty that can enhance both traditional and contemporary spaces. With the right choice, installation and care, a real wood floor can retain its elegance for many years while developing more character as it ages.

Very good communication & service throughout- from initial contact at the show room in Beckenham to the quotation and completion of the job. I chose Sisal for my staircase & landing; high quality materials (incl. underlay) used, and all finishing to high standard. The team (2 on the job) worked non-stop, from start to finish (it took about 7hrs, it’s much harder to work with Sisal V traditional carpet), friendly, professional, left the place tidy & clean. All rubbish taken away. Although one of my upstairs door couldn’t close anymore, after adding the bar to connect wood to sisal, the office quickly reached out on the next day to agree & organise for someone else to come the following week to have my door trimmed. The finish is beautiful 🤩 I love how the Sisal elevates my staircase, it feels cosy and so stylish. Big thanks to the whole team, for a sterling job! Laurence (London SE)

I'm so pleased with the beautiful Amtico oak effect floor that has been laid in my conservatory. The overall effect is really calming and classy. I had great assistance in the shop choosing the main wood effect boards and being able to try them at home and then working out what types of stripping to use to create a distinctive yet refined border. Great attention to detail in screeding the floor and laying the border and main boards. Overall great customer care! I am very happy continuing to obtain further flooring from this excellent company.

My wife and I purchased a carpet from Bespoke Floors for a property we intend to sell. From the outset, Stuart was extremely honest and straightforward and gave us excellent advice on which carpet to choose. He didn’t try to sell us something super expensive, rather, he pointed us in the direction of a carpet that would match the property and, whilst not being expensive, looked the part. Bespoke Floors are a great company to deal with. They have a great selection of flooring and give honest, straightforward and sound advice. Special thanks to Stuart for his help.

We couldn’t be happier with the incredible work Stuart and his team did installing our Amtico floor. From start to finish, their professionalism and attention to detail were second to none. Every aspect of the installation was handled with care and precision, and it’s clear they take great pride in their work. Stuart’s team went above and beyond to ensure the finish was flawless, paying close attention to even the smallest details to create a perfect result. They were punctual, tidy, and extremely knowledgeable, answering all our questions and offering helpful advice along the way. The final result is stunning, and the quality of their workmanship has transformed our space. We highly recommend Stuart and his team to anyone looking for exceptional flooring installation. Thank you for such an outstanding job!

We have just had our hallway flooring completed by Bespoke Flooring and I am absolutely thrilled with it. The knowledge and care from all the team was outstanding. I visited the Oxted shop in Nov 24 and the lady took me through all the choices I was looking at, followed by giving me some samples to allow me time for a decision without any pressure and finally a precise fitting, both fitters were so polite and careful. Thank you, we will be back for more flooring!

Real Wood Flooring FAQs

How do I maintain wood flooring?

Regular sweeping and occasional damp mopping with wood-safe products will help maintain its finish.

Does real wood flooring scratch easily?

Wood can scratch, but regular maintenance, protective pads on furniture, and refinishing can keep it looking great.

How long does real wood flooring last?

With proper care, real wood flooring can last decades and can often be sanded and refinished multiple times.

Is real wood flooring suitable for kitchens?

Engineered wood can be used in kitchens if properly sealed, but care should be taken to avoid excess moisture.

Does Real Wood Flooring Trap Dust?

Hardwood has a smooth surface rather than fibres that can hold dust in the same way carpet can, making it relatively simple to vacuum or wipe clean. Regular cleaning is still important, particularly because grit left on the surface can contribute to small scratches over time.

How Do You Keep Real Wood Flooring Looking Its Best?

Real wood flooring is made to be lived on, but proper maintenance helps preserve its appearance and longevity. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes grit that can mark the surface, while spills should be dealt with promptly and excess water avoided. Always use cleaning products suited to the particular wood and finish.

Lacquered finishes are particularly straightforward to wipe clean, while oiled flooring may require different care to maintain the timber’s appearance and protection. Hardwood can still develop scratches or dents over time, especially in high-traffic areas, so preventive care is just as important as cleaning.

Maintenance also depends on whether your floor is oiled or lacquered. Over time, many real wood floors can be refreshed, while solid wood flooring can often be sanded and refinished several times. Some engineered wood floors can also be refinished, depending on the thickness of the real wood wear layer and the manufacturer’s specifications.

For more advice on day-to-day cleaning and long-term care, see our real wood flooring care guide.

What Is The Best Real Wood Flooring For High Traffic Areas?

The right option depends on the room, timber, construction and finish. Harder species such as Hard Maple and Hickory can offer strong resistance to denting, while oak also remains a popular choice for its balance of durability, appearance and warmth. The Janka Hardness Scale can help compare the relative hardness of different timber species, but the finish, installation and maintenance of the floor matter too.

What is the difference between solid and engineered wood flooring?

Solid wood is made from a single piece of timber, while engineered wood has a real wood top layer over a stable core, making it more resistant to changes in temperature and moisture.

Can real wood flooring be used with underfloor heating?

Engineered wood is generally suitable for underfloor heating, while solid wood may not be recommended in all cases.
