A regular run with an upright vacuum cleaner fitted with brushes only is the best care for any carpet installation. Besides removing loose dirt and hairs it draws air through the carpet helping to keep lift and body in the carpet pile; carpets that aren’t regularly vacuumed literally flatten out and lose a great deal of their comfort and warmth. Tub or cylinder machines can also be used for regular carpet care, the most important consideration being to keep the dust bags emptied and filters regularly cleaned.
Around once a year a more deep clean approach should be taken to carpets installed at your home or office using a soil extraction machine; expensive to buy these machines are widely available for hire. Carpets can also be shampooed, a less expensive process which is also, unfortunately, less effective, but nevertheless is a good periodic care action to carry out.
